Specialist Programs
Music
Students explore sound through singing, playing instruments, and engaging in self-expression through music. With a focus on creativity and fun, students learn music theory, discover and appreciate different genres, and develop their ability to make and respond to music. Through games, movement, and group activities, students develop both their listening and creating skills and explore the relationship between music and telling stories.
Science
Science at St Lawrence is all about students learning to investigate, understand and communicate about the physical, biological and technological world. Aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum, our program helps students appreciate the processes that sustain life on our planet and develop critical thinking skills by using evidence to evaluate the role of science in society and everyday life.
To extend learning opportunities, our Year 6 students can join the STEM Club, where they engage in creative projects and challenges across Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, fostering innovation, collaboration and problem solving.
Health and Physical Education
Health and Physical Education provides students with an understanding of health issues and the skills needed for confident participation in sport and recreational activities. This enables students to make responsible decisions about health and physical activity and promote their own and others’ health and well-being.
Physical Education and Sport is taught by a specialist teacher from Kindy to Year 6. Pre-Kindy teachers incorporate Health and Physical Education into their programme focusing on the skills essential for early years development. Annually students participate in inter-school Carnivals. Students in Years 1 – 6 participate in swimming lessons.
Digital Technology
Digital Technology is a key learning area at our school, taught explicitly from Pre Primary to Year 6 and embedded across all other subjects. We believe that digital fluency is essential for students to thrive in the 21st century enabling them to think critically, collaborate effectively, solve problems creatively, and navigate an increasingly digital world with confidence.
In Junior Primary (Pre Primary – Year 2), our 1:2 iPad Program introduces students to hands-on learning experiences that build foundational technology skills. From Years 3 to 6, our 1:1 iPad Leasing Program ensures every student has personal access to a device, supporting deeper engagement, personalised learning and seamless integration of digital tools across the curriculum.
By embedding technology into everyday learning, we empower students to become capable, responsible users of digital systems, preparing them not just for school but for life beyond the classroom.
